My Butt Hurts!
"See, here's the thing..."
Now that I have your attention, I would like to explain. I have a terrible ache that runs all the way from my hamstring up into my butt! In fact, today as I was doing my long run, I almost quit at 5 miles. But, I kept going....until mile 7 when I decided that I had had enough...but I evidently hadn't because I kept going. Then I did a little experiment at mile 8. I decided to "power walk" for half a mile. I figured that I would end up walking at some point in my marathon anyway, so I better start practicing harder walking in addition to my running. Needless to say, my butt hurts!

Here are this week's running totals:
Weekly Total: 31.6 miles
Monthly Total: 92.2 miles
Overall Total: 331.4 miles

Kool Kids
"See, here's the thing..."
I have the two best kids in the world...but then again, what mom wouldn't say that? But, in my case, it really is true.

Both of my kids have excelled in music this past year. They started music lessons - Ty playing the piano, and Ry playing the guitar. Ty is now learning to play "The Entertainer" and is looking forward to playing the french horn next year in band. Ry might not be as advanced as Ty, but he definitely has no problem playing and singing while on stage. I can see him being a rock star one day.

They are also both great at their chosen sports. Ty started diving this past year after her knees forced her out of gymnastics. She placed fourth in her first dive meet on Friday. I thought that was pretty good since she really hasn't been diving very long and this was her first meet. Her coach would like her to move up from the novice division to the JO division sometime this coming year, but she will have to get several more dives first - including some on the 3M board...scary! Ry has also done so much better at baseball. He's become a great little 3rd baseman, and talked today about wanting to play fall ball. The season ends just a few days after the first practice for flag football, which he is also playing this fall. So, he will also be busy with sports.

Oh, and did I mention how smart they are? Ty will being going into 6th grade next year and will take honors math and GT. Ry isn't in GT, but should be - he has the most creative imagination ever!

My kids are so talented, and I am so proud of them! Thanks for taking the time to listen to me brag. Oh, and enjoy the pics of their many talents.
PS - Here's my weekly running update...which I almost forgot in my eagerness to brag on my kids.
Weekly Total: 30.5 miles
Monthly Total: 60.6 miles
Overall Total: 299.8 miles (OK, now had I known this morning that I was that close to 300 miles, I would have gone an extra mile!)
By the way, my new favorite CD is The Dutchess by Fergie....AWESOME!

Should I become a dentist?
"See, here's the thing..."
People keep asking me how the running is going. I tell them it's going great...with the exception of me being extremely SLOOOOOWWWW. So what's not going great? My fundraising. One girl on our team has already raised almost $2000! "How?" I ask...I need to know her tricks.

Maybe I should just become a dentist. If I were a dentist, I could have raised my whole total in one visit from my family - such as the one we had yesterday. Yes, I spent that much at the dentist yesterday. I spent about $4800 on Ty's braces and about $250 for Ry's procedure yesterday. Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining. Just stating the facts when you have two children.

Anyway, here are my updated running totals:
Last Week's Total: 30.1 miles
Monthly Total: 30.1 miles (because last week was the first week I had run this month)
Overall Total: 269.4 miles

Official Training Has Begun
"See, here's the thing..."
Today is the first day of official training with Team in Training. The training schedule says to run 4 miles at an easy pace...but I did my usual Sunday 10. After speaking with my coach, she said that it is fine to continue with my usual training mileage until the training schedule catches up to my normal mileage. Sounds good to me...I don't want to go backwards.

Since today is the first day of official training, I thought that I would start posting a weekly Sunday update. I will include my total mileage for the previous week, my total mileage for the month, and my total mileage since I started entertaining the thought of training for a marathon.

So, here is this week's TNT training update:
Previous Week's Total: 19.1 miles (it's a little low since I took Friday and Saturday off in preparation for today's official start date - and since it was the last two days of school - which are ALWAYS crazy!)
Monthly Total: 10.1 miles (today was the first time that I have run during June)
Total to Date: 249.3 miles (that's like running to my grandparent's house!)

Ty and Ry Update:
Ty is officially a 6th grader!
Ry is officially a 1st grader!
