It's a Done Deal!
"See, here's the thing..."
So I've been kicking around this marathon idea for several weeks now and finally decided to just take that leap of faith and do it. I registered today! Go me! Now I have to raise about $4,000 to benefit Luekemia and Lymphoma Society as I run in the Nike Women's Marathon in San Francisco on October 21st! However, this is a fabulous cause, and if I am going to run, I am going to run for a cause. If you would like to help me with my fundraising efforts for my "miracle miles" (a miracle for those who benefit from the funding used to find a cure, AND a miracle for me just to run 26 miles), please visit my fundraising page at http://www.active.com/donate/tntvirtual/msides.
Here I am after running across the Golden Gate Bridge. I hope I look that good after running across all of San Francisco! :-)

Got Comments?
Do you have comments that you would like to post? Then go for it!
Posting a comment is very easy...
1.) Click on the "___ comments" at the bottom of the post that you would like to comment on.
2.) Type your comment. Please be nice :-)
3.) Choose your identity option - you can use a blogger account if you have one, choose "other" which requires a name and URL address (most of you probably don't have this), or choose "anonymous." This may be the only option for some of you. If you do the anonymous option, please sign your name in the body of your comment so I will know who is commenting. :-)

If you would like to set up your own blog, you can do that also - then you will have a blogger account that you can post comments with. Just go to www.blogger.com. It's very easy to sign up and get started. And then I would have someone else to blog with!

To Run or Not to Run....That is the Question
"See, here's the thing..."
In my heart, I have definitely decided to run this marathon. But my head keeps talking me out of it! I wish it would just shut up - it would definitely make my decision a lot easier. I ran for 2 hours on Sunday - of course, I have no idea how far I ran since my iPod Nike sensor gave out. But, 2 hours is 2 hours, and I need to condition myself to run for large amounts of time. So, I have filled out all the paperwork, and just need to fill out the online registration form in order to get it set up. Michelle said that it is a leap of faith and I need to just do it. She's probably right....

On to more important issues. Today we had Alan November come and speak with administrators in the district. I was truly inspired by his vision. His ideas really fit with the vision that our district has for educating the 21st century students. While I was inspired, others were uncomfortable. Therefore the question shifted to , "How do we get teachers to share this vision and take on the challenges that he is proposing?""

Taco update: Our little stray has found his home. Sadly, I sort of miss him. :-(

Ty and Ry update:
Ty's results for both the reading and math TAKS tests have come back. She did awesome of course, and received commended on both. We are still awaiting the results of her science test, but I am sure that she did fantastic. In other news...she went to the dentist today because she has 3 teeth coming in over baby teeth that won't come out. He suggested pulling the teeth. Then, she will probably have to have braces to help guide those teeth into place. That's another $5,000!
Ry is finally "getting it." He is doing well in school. He is finally beginning to read simple sentences with sight words or words that he can sound out. He is also beginning to write words instead of scribbling when he decides to free write. The other day during church he decided to write his color words. Before, he would just write scribbles, but he actually chose to write WORDS! He's also finally starting to pay attention in baseball. He is hitting well and has gotten kids out on 3rd during the past several games.

I'm in...I think
"See, here's the thing..."
I've been thinking about running a marathon for a while now. I think I might just be in. I've really been working hard to up my running mileage. A month ago I could only run about 3 miles at a time. But today I ran 7.5! So can I do it? Sure. I can do anything I set my mind to. But do I really want to run 26 miles all at one time?

The Team in Training people have now contacted...twice. So perhaps that is a sign that I need to do this. I would have to raise almost $4000 but that would include my training, airfare, 3 night's stay, and the entry fee. The rest of the money would benefit the Luekemia and Lymphoma Society. I think that if I am going to run, I am going to run for a reason. Besides, Ty brought me $15 dollars of her own money last night and said, "Only $3,985 to go." Is that not the sweetest, most unselfish thing ever? Besides, that's just one more reason to run...my child believes in me.
Enough about my running...on to other things. The kids have adopted this dog that followed them home yesterday. It is the cutest little male chihuahua (with the exception of my Mickey). He is so sweet, but Mickey isn't very fond of him. We put up signs around the neighborhood today so maybe his owner will claim him soon. If not, I'm afraid we will have to adopt another dog, and I'm not quite sure that I am ready for that yet.

The kids have named him. Ty likes Taco and Ry likes Pluto.

I hope he has another name that his owner will share with us soon.

Ty and Ry Update: Ty will take the science TAKS test on Thursday. I'm sure that she will do just fine, but it never hurts to have some extra prayers. Ry's team won their game on Saturday. Ry got a hit and also got a kid out on 3rd base. The ball went straight to him so he picked it up and stepped on his base! I'm just glad that he was finally paying attention. I hope that he does that well during his games this week.

This is INSANE!
"See, here's the thing..."
Ok, Ashley. I blame you for this! Here it is almost 1:00 am and I am STILL up! Why you ask? Because my brain is going a million miles a minute thinking about this crazy blog and all of the things I can do with it! First, I wanted a cute template...and of course, Blogger had nothing to suit my fancy. So, I went to Zoot Designs and found one I liked. Well then I had to figure out how to get the template to appear on my blog...took me a while but I got it. THEN, I decided that I at least needed a link to one friend, but couldn't figure out how to get a link. Finally went to the Blogger help and discovered that I needed to know code. Well, craaappp. Luckily, I am a smart girl and know how to copy and paste. :-) So, now I have a link to one friend. I don't know how many of my other friends actually have a blog but I am certainly going to find out...or at least make them start one.

My First Post
"See, here's the thing..." (for those of you who are Monk fans...)
This is my first post. I am very excited to start using this blog and hope that my friends and family will use it to keep in touch. I hope that I can chronicle my adventures (as my mom likes to call them) here...both good and bad.

My current adventure? I am hoping that I can run a marathon soon. Crazy? Probably so...no, definitely so....but that's ok. I contacted Team in Training which provides training for those wanting to run a marathon. In return, you do fundraising for their organization - Leukemia and Lymphoma. They emailed me back today but all of the informational meetings are in Dallas - too far for me to drive for a meeting. I returned the email asking for another solution, so we will see what they say. I did notice that they had a "Virtual Team in Training." Perhaps that will be a good solution.

Tuesday night news:
Ty - Finally did an "inward" at diving! Yeah Ty! I don't quite know exactly how this is executed but I do know that it requires you to go off the board backwards and touch your toes before straightening out to dive into the water. I think I would much rather run 26 miles!
Ry - His team won 18-9. He hit the ball every time he batted and scored 1 run. Yeah Ry! He has been playing 3rd base and has been doing a pretty good job. Not many balls come his way, but he is paying attention instead of rolling in the dirt! :-)
